We at CODeL will do our part in assisting you in achieving those set out personal learning goals. Collaborative Learning: Moodle as a Learning Management System LMS is based on the learning philosophy that involves social interaction and the creation of learning artefacts in social settings.
This creates a collaborative learning environment where everyone students and lecturers are potential teachers as well as learners. Using social theories, the LMS enables the act of creating or expressing something for others to see, thereby promoting student learning through observing the activities of their peers. Accessibility: With an online course, students can work on the course just about anywhere and anytime they have computer access. Moodle as a LMS used at CODeL can also be accessed on mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets, further enhancing student accessibility.
Enhanced choices of study: For those students in a community with few or no Higher Educational Institutions or who cannot afford the cost of living in terms of relocation, distance learning and e-Learning allows a prospective student to choose from a wide variety of programmes at the University of Namibia. Therefore CODeL affords students opportunities to study programmes of their choice not limited by distance, work or family commitments. JH: Finally, what is expected from lecturers to make this new initiative a success?
However, we encourage lecturers to walk the journey with us as we move away from only teaching face to face to embracing the blended teaching mode that infuses both face-to-face and e-Learning.
